Day n-1, in the quest for Snow. In a last ditch effort to find turns, a crew headed up onto the Duffy to see if we could use the now clear logging roads to access some of the last patches of snow... |

Foiled |
Foiled again |
The ups and downs of logging |
Guess they really mean that road closed sign. Up the Downton Cr Rd |
Avi debris this time. This time on the Gott Creek Rd. |
we would not be up here if it was not for the logging, but it certainly is not pretty at times. Kind of like a bad haircut. |
2:49 pm at the trailhead |
Just a quick bushwack through the trees |
Look at all that snow |
Not quite an alpine start, but we can see the snow |
About as fun as it looks. |
|
The way up |
A brief stop at the col |
What makes it all worth while |
Not even work putting on the skis for the way up. |
5:30pm, you have to love the summer long hours. |
The quick way down |

More turns |
End of the run |

|
The snow ran out all too soon |
One Last Look |
Bushwack Back. |

| On the second day we found where all the snow was hiding. The Hurley road had been plowed only one week before and though the snow quickly disappeared quickly after cresting the summit, there was plenty of snow above the road. We headed up Donelly Creek towards Locomotive and Face. | ||
Easy Walking |
There it all goes |
Locomotive and Handcar? |
|
Once again the snow made for easy walking, it was not necessary to put on ski's most of the way up the valley. |
Lots going downhill, but still plenty left. |
|
Between Locomotive and Face |
Approaching Faceless |
Bit of a Bootpack |
The summit, almost |
The Blind Descent |
Last turns of the season |
|
We were not sure we could actually makeit out this valley, but with some leapfrog scouting we made it through the cliff bands and had a great run down some spring corn. |
||
mmmm, tree sap |
Not quite |
The wade out. |
|
I am not counting these as turns |
Matt practicing for the long jump. |
coming out was a bit of a damp at times. |
